Automatic Repetitive Drop Tester | RS-DP-04-2A
The RS-DP-04-2A Automatic Repetitive Drop Tester is designed for repeated low-height drop testing of smartphones, tablets and portable electronics.
With dual independent test stations, 6-axis robotic handling and 14-sample automatic loading, the system automatically performs programmed multi-side drop sequences with minimal operator intervention. It simulates repeated light impacts onto a horizontal surface to evaluate housing durability and internal structural resistance.

Load up to 14 same-size specimens and set the drop height, orientation, sequence and drop count. The vision system locates the specimen, while the 6-axis robot handles pickup, transfer and reorientation automatically.
The drop mechanism positions the specimen, lifts it to the programmed height and releases it onto the impact surface. After each sequence, the robot recovers the specimen and prepares the next orientation or sample.
LOAD → IDENTIFY → PICK → POSITION → DROP → RECOVER → REORIENT → REPEAT

Two independently controlled stations support simultaneous automatic testing.
Automatic pickup, transfer, reorientation and sample replacement reduce manual handling.
Load up to 14 same-size specimens for sequential repetitive drop testing.
Automatically tests two major faces and four narrow sides according to the programmed sequence.
Identifies individual specimens and links them with corresponding test records.
Interrupted tests can resume from the recorded orientation and drop count, with optional server integration via RJ45.

Smartphones · Tablets · E-readers · Electronic Dictionaries · Portable Terminals · Small Consumer Electronics
Suitable for repetitive set-down testing, housing durability evaluation, internal structure impact testing and production reliability verification. The original specification specifically identifies smartphones, e-books/e-readers and electronic dictionaries as target products.

Barcode or QR code identification can link each specimen with its test orientation and drop count. Interrupted tests can continue from the recorded test status instead of restarting the full sequence.
Test orientation, time and drop count can also be uploaded to a server through RJ45 integration when the required communication protocol is configured.

Send us your product dimensions, weight, drop height, orientations and drop count. ITM-LAB will evaluate the appropriate test configuration.

It is mainly designed for smartphones and similar portable electronics, including tablets, e-readers and electronic dictionaries. The purpose is to reproduce repeated low-height impacts and check the durability of the housing and internal structure.
No. The RS-DP-04-2A is intended for repetitive low-height drop testing, with an adjustable height of 5–300 mm. It is better suited to repeated set-down or light-impact testing than conventional higher-height free-fall testing.
No. Once the samples and test sequence are prepared, the machine handles the repetitive process automatically. The robot picks up the specimen, transfers it to the test station and changes its orientation when required.
The standard loading area accommodates 14 same-size specimens. The machine then processes them according to the programmed sequence.
Yes. There are two independently controlled stations, so each station performs its own test actions. This is useful when a large number of repetitive drops are required.
Yes. For the standard configuration, the machine can automatically test two major faces and four narrow sides. The 6-axis robot handles the specimen when a change of orientation is required.
The system supports barcode/QR identification and can retain the specimen's previous test orientation and drop count. This allows an interrupted test to continue from the recorded point instead of starting again.
Send us the sample dimensions, weight, required drop height, orientations and number of drops. We can first check whether the standard RS-DP-04-2A configuration is suitable and determine what fixture or handling adjustments are required.
